This presentation was part of CPD offered by the Football League to development coaches and those who worked in the Youth phase. It took place at Sheffield Wednesday and was wrapped around by information for the various category clubs on EPPP.  This made my job easier! Football League Conference 2014

UEFA Pro Leadership Styles and Challenges

Module One of the FA UEFA Professional Licence focuses on Leadership and Management of Self and Others. Sport and Recreation Alliance keynote

The Sport and Recreation Alliance is an umbrella organisation which represents a very diverse membership: caravanning to boxing, clay pigeon shooting to yachting. It is a membership group which is very effective at lobbying. I shared a platform with John Timpson, a very impressive businessman who helps disadvantaged groups find employment in his shops.  I was talking about developing staff by ‘’loving the one you’re with…’ SRA Keynote

Referee Assessors

The Referee Assessors assess referees: simples! I was speaking at their annual Heathrow Conference about giving post-match feedback. In preparation I shadowed an assessor before, during and after a game. As it happened it was a big game where promotion would be decided into the Football League. He was very good and helped me a lot. One of the resources I used were these Referee Assessors Situation Cards


Finnish Football Association on developing communication skills in coaches

A problem arose early on in this session in Helsinki when the laptop crashed and I was left without any material. Not great when you’re there to lead on communication and your audience sat well apart in the lecture theatre and are Finnish, not noted for their gregariousness. We ploughed on an by the end we had them engaged. Here’s a selection of the slides.
