Why would you use Alistair – or any of his associates – to help enthuse, inspire or transform your school, your team or your organisation? There are five reasons.
- Immediate impact – proven again and again
- The ideas work – the legacy speaks for itself
- It’s benchmarked against some of the best practice nationally and globally – we get into the High Performing schools
- What is done routes theory back into practice – we place the art of teaching within a science of learning
- Having completing over 1,000 presentations no one has more experience in this field!
What has made our suggested approach to development and transformation so successful? We put the learner first.
For schools we suggest applying the 4 C’s – as a Community, seek Clarity over great learning outcomes; attain Coherence in their delivery across the school; ensure Consistency in their day to day delivery. Do so as follows:
- Start by agreeing the learner KASE outcomes – what Knowledge, Attributes, Skills and Experiences – you wish our learners to leave with
- then define and be very specific about what ‘great’ learning looks and feels like
- Describe and detail both the teacher and learner behaviours required to deliver great learning which in turn provides the KASE
- Provide the tools and techniques to promote the new teacher and learner behaviours
- Create the infrastructure of support and challenge to allow the new teacher and learner behaviours to become Coherent and Consistent
“You helped give us a clear focus on what we have to do to achieve consistently outstanding learning and teaching in the academy. We have just achieved an “outstanding “grade in our first Ofsted and are aiming to move “beyond outstanding”.Phillip Smith, AHT, Shelfield Community Academy, 2011
In sports leadership and coaching we suggest using an equivalent KASE to define both present and desired situations. This leads to a Gap Analysis. Where are we now? Where do we need to be? In professional football we have worked with clubs to provide the equivalent of a MOT Test. We break down all the management and coaching functions required to create success and get results then we use these to review what’s happening on a day to day basis.
